Scotland Roadtrip
After years of mountain biking I was well aware of just how stunning the scenery of Scotland could be but I’d never looked at it with landscape photography as the main objective.
A trip to the Highlands had been talked about but the world wide pandemic delayed things for a while, not to mention work, family and all the other commitments of modern life.
Eventually a date was set, accommodation was booked and the location planning was put in to place.
Late October, hopefully some autumnal color and the bonus of no dreaded midges!
With a 6 hour drive, an early start was needed but after a quick stop at the Tebay Services farm shop to stock up on supplies we were soon where we needed to be and lining up the first compositions of the trip.
The itinerary was simple enough, a couple of days based in Fort William, exploring Glencoe and the surrounding areas before driving further North to the Isle of Skye.
The conditions were perfect: sun, rain, repeat. The light constantly changing. Even a sprinkling of snow on the higher peaks. Each location had its own charms, nowhere disappointed.
All too soon the week was over and it was time for the long drive south, timed to perfection as the weather broke and torrential rain set in for the weekend.
Before we had even left Scotland talk turned to planning a return trip.
